    I do not want to make the history of the Kipchaks more ancient, but it seems to me that this is a vicious logic: Kipchaks appeared when they were first mentioned by foreign sources. This is equivalent to the fact that the Australian aborigens did not exist until the British colonialists saw them.
    I get your point, but I didn't claim that the Kipchaks didn't exist before the 8th century, but that they were mentioned for the first time in the 8th century, and if a Roman saw them, he would have mentioned them somewhere... So they were not in Anatolia until the 8th century, because the Romans were still there at that time, and they have recorded scores of people very far away from Roman territory.

    What is mostly missing of these stellas is a proper dating technique. Stone cannot be carbon dated...
