Hi Dorky, this is a great thread, thanks. The last one scores 11.4% Italian, and lots of these score minor percentages (0.1-1.5%). Any idea why? rRoma colonists did not spread into Rep. Of Moldova and mtdna and Ydna studies of Romanians show a very clear locality to us, so not even the Transylvanians should necessarily show it

Is there an option on 23andme to check the average category in a country, like on MyHeritage? Like 15% of Romanians score Italian while 12% score NW European etc.
    Just a 26.6% European individual

    G25 "26.6% Austrian:Austria6 + 73.4% Romanian:G408" "0.0096"
    EU TEST 86.9% RO + 13.1% West_&_Central_German @ 4.98
    K13 56.9% Tu(ran)scan + 43.1% Ukrainian @ 4.02

Hi, no, unfortunately 23andme doesn't have that feature. But neither does MyHeritage. On MyHeritage, when choosing a country, they are showing us the rate of people from that country who receive that admixture. That can mean either 0.1%, 100% and anything in-between. Those are not averages.
When you are seeing for example 70% Balkan for Romania (I'm making that number up), that means that 70% of people from Romania scored some Balkan, in varying proportions. It doesn't mean that on average Romanians scored 70% Balkan.

With regards to the last person from Moldova with 11.4% Italian, they are from Taraclia. Taraclia is an ethnic Bulgarian district in Moldova. Hence that person is likely Bulgarian. Just like Greeks, Bulgarians can score an exaggerated amount of Italian on 23andme, because it's probably confused for a more Southern-like Balkan ancestry.
