Could be, or perhaps it's partial ancestry of an ethnicity from Caucasus, if we assume that this comes from his side in Russia.

What I noticed is that romanians from northern Moldova (Suceava, Botosani) tend to have results that are similar to republic moldovans. The rest are a bit more balkan.

As far as romanians (both from Romania and Moldova) are concerned there seems to be an incompatibility between 23andme and gedmatch. I've encountered results where individual A scores higher eastern euro than individual B on 23andme but then individual B scores higher baltic than individual A on gedmatch. I'm talking differences as high as 10%.

I posted this before, but these are two Transylvanians from near Fagaras. Both appear to have long family histories in the area.

Definitely a very good sample of results. I see that Wallachians (mostly Balkan-shift) are way more homogeneous than Moldovans (mixed Balkan-East Slavic). Curious if those in Transylvania are closer to Wallachians than to Moldovans, and do they have much higher Northwestern Euro than both groups?

Greek & Balkan masks some Baltic, that's probably why. Serbs, Croatians, Bosnians, Romanians (both from Romania and Republic of Moldova) and Bulgarians are all used as references and they all have some Baltic-like admixture from Slavs.

We'll find that out in the next episode

Though I still have some Wallachians in store before that.
