The Franks, the Law speaker's and other Dutch speaking Europeans ancestors, were the ones who founded the Frankish empire and given France it's name which literally means "the land of the Franks". Of course, the Franks are divided into two groups; the Salian Franks where they had preserved their Frankish language which evolved into the Dutch language and her dialects like Flemish and Afrikaner, while those in the Rhineland assimilated to the German speaking world and becoming the Franconian-German speakers of Germany. The Alemmani and the Lombards spoke German dialects which one of them is still spoken today like the Alemmanic German of Southern Germany and Switzerland while the Lombardic German became extinct after they got assimilated to the general Italian populace. The Anglo-Saxons were a confederation of several Germanic tribes like the Angles, Jutes and the Saxons with some Franks and others in the mix which they migrated to Britain and became the modern day English people. The rest of the Germanic peoples like the Goths and the Suebi had assimilated to other European groups like Romance speakers, Slavs and so on.
