As you stated before, Palestinians have more recent genetic ancestry with western Jews than to the Mizrahim despite the genetic clustering since the western Jewish ancestors had left Israel/Palestine much more later than the ancestors of the Mizrahim. I don't like using the term "European Jews" since it's insinuating the idea that they're nothing more than White people practicing Judaism which is not true at all.

I doubt that MyHeritage assigned him Ashkenazi because of having more recent ancestry. If anything, it's because Ashkenazim probably have a higher Levantine % than their Mizrachi reference.

I don't mind the term "European Jews" when it actually refers to European Jews - all Jews of Europe: Ashkenazim, Sephardim who remained in Europe, Italkim, Romaniotes etc. When "European Jew" is used exclusively for Ashkenazim, especially online, it does often imply what you're talking about.

Yeah. MyHeritage is not as good as 23andMe when it comes to these things since the latter had came a very long way while the former is pretty new. I like the geographical term for both Ashkenazi and Sephardic jews, western Jews, instead.
