Depends on the individual African state. Some African countries have already figured out not to fight each other like colonial powers want them to, and I have a lot of faith in those nations. Others are still being divided and going through ethnic and religious civil wars. Mexicans, while they already have a decent infrastructure compared to most African countries, lacks a strong national identity and goal like all other multiracial Latin American countries. You can't succeed in the 21st century if you model your economy in the idea of exploiting Natives and Mestizos to cash in more wealth for the Blancos in the minority. That's not a sustainable model when you have giants like China with a very strong sense of ethnic unity to compete with. Wish the best for African countries and Mexico, but they sure have a lot to improve on socially so they can really improve economically.

Only Botswana is one of Africa's biggest success stories. It has a comparable population and resources to neighbouring Zimbabwe, but with a much much higher level of economic freedom. This economic freedom over the last 50 years has led to them being one of the least developed countries in Africa to one of the most, with a GDP per capita rivalling South Africa. Right now their HDI is that of about Mexico's, and currently Botswana boasts the longest standing democracy on the continent.
However, most of Africa is now like Mexico where you have a wealthy elite ruling class, a massive poverty class that keeps shitting out poverty-babies, and not much in between. So they handle this overpopulation of poverty-babies by telling them to fuck off, go to other nations, and be someone else's problems.

Mexico has a way better genetical base than Africa, and borders the USA (but it will never become a prosperous and pacific place, it will be a shithole)
Africa has any capacity of nothing, they have been exploded by anyone who has gone there (arab muslims, northafricans, europeans from many origins, and now chinese), they always will be the most profound shithole on the earth and their development will depend on foreing powers.

Africa. Comparing a country with a continent is ridiculous.

Africa.
Mexico will suffer premature deindustrialisation as its wages aren't competitive enough. Africa is going to benefit massively from decoupling of the US-China economies after covid when a lot of manafacturing will move there from China & SEA.

Africa's plentiful low-wage labour just makes it seem inevitable that eventually the "global factory" will move there from East Asia. Three (Rwanda, Senegal, Ethiopia) of the five fastest growing economies are in Africa. In a few years time, Mexico won't even have a sustainable population and will be aging rapidly. Mexico's largest industry is car manafacturing, and there is a global shift of auto production to India.
The Mexican Drug War risks going the way of the Colombian conflict as the cartels increasingly have a political affiliation. Some present themselves as religious-conservative, others as socialist etc. None of Africa's ongoing conflicts are currently claiming anywhere near as many lives as the Mexican Drug War.
