Default Do you agree with current citizenship laws?

Wonder what ethnic Hungarians think about it. As you know, it is very easy to aquire Hungarian passport these days, if your ancestors lived in territories of former Kingdom of Hungary and if you speak very little Hungarian.
I am aware current law was created to ease process of gaining Hungarian citizenship for millions of ethnic Hungarians who were left out of Hungary after Treaty of Trianon, but it is not only ethnic Hungarians who are using this opportunity.

As far as I know, Slovakia does not allow dual citizenship for it's citizens. Correct me if wrong. On the other hand, I know for a fact lot of ethnic Serbs from Vojvodina became Hungarian citizens despite they have nothing to do with Hungary not they plan to live there. They used opportunity current law provides for them to get EU passport, and than work in western European countries without any problem. I know this because Hungarians from Vojvodina told me so.

I now have dual Croatian and Hungarian citizenship. I speak Hungarian well on conversational level, but I can tell you language skills interview they ask you is a joke. It is very minimal requirenment, something that can be learned with few weeks of intense practice. In comparison, criteria for gaining Croatian citizenship is much, much stricter even for ethnic Croats born outside of Croatia except for Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Are you fine with this, or do you think your government shouldn't give out passports all that easily? Discuss.

Russia permits second citizenship but you have to give a mandatory notification to authorities about its presence. For people from post-Soviet countries, obtaining Russian citizenship is relatively simple. For example, there was a program of Russian government under which Armenians from Armenia might receive Russian citizenship and financial assistance to settle in Russia.

In Ukraine officially second citizenship is prohibited. For people from post-Soviet countries like Russia or Armenia obtaining Ukrainian citizenship was relatively simple.

Armenia permits second citizenship. To obtain citizenship of Armenia you have to have Armenian origin or to marry Armenian.

Slovakia allows dual citizenship if you are born with both like I was. I have both American and Slovak citizenship. However, if you apply for a different citizenship later in life you will lose your Slovak one. Yes this is specifically due to Hungarys policy of handing out Hungarian citizenship to everyone in order to annex parts of their neighboring countries where there are large ethnic minorities. Because of this unfortunately my little sister was born during a year where my father lost his Slovak citizenship(later he managed to get it back) and she isn't allowed to have a Slovak passport. What a bunch of BS. Her father is directly from Slovakia and she can't be a citizen even though my father and 4 of her siblings are all Slovak citizens. I do blame Hungarians for this.

It's sad to hear SVK-HUN relations are so bad
Can't believe you sister can't have Slovak passport, really nonsensical. But, I know many Croatian-Americans who struggle to get Croatian passport, because they are third generation and to get it your parent need to be a citizen. Your family case is obviously different though.
