There is a plan by General Staff of Russian Army with regard to Turkey. Erdogan, according to Vasilkevich, is in conflict with Russia only because he counts on the local superiority of the Turkish army. Russia in Syria has only a small group of troops, and Turkey has the whole army at hand, which is considered the strongest in Europe.

Therefore, in the event of hostilities, the main striking force of the Russian Federation will have to become cruise missiles and airborne units. A missile strike, in the first hours of the conflict, will destroy the main Turkish airbases and Russian aviation will gain air superiority, which will free the hands of paratroopers. Airborne assaults will be thrown in strategic areas behind Turkish troops, fettering their actions, and getting enough time to approach the main ground forces already from Russian territory - through Georgia and Armenia.

The outcome of the operation will be decided already on the first day, and then the turn will come of simply slowly strangling the already defeated enemy.

Vasilkevich noted that the decisive factor in this kind of conflict will be precisely the significant technical superiority of Russia.

Как по мне, Василькевич не учёл два нюанса:
1) В Грузии прозападное правительство и сильные анти-русские настроения.
2)Турция - член НАТО, а это значит, что любой удар по ней приведёт к войне с США.
СССР мог теоретически победить НАТО, но для нынешней РФ война с США будет самоубийством.

Как по мне, Василькевич не учёл два нюанса:
1) В Грузии прозападное правительство и сильные анти-русские настроения.
2)Турция - член НАТО, а это значит, что любой удар по ней приведёт к войне с США.
СССР мог теоретически победить НАТО, но для нынешней РФ война с США будет самоубийством.

1. Грузины однозначно не будут ложиться под российские танки, защищая турок.

2. НАТО никогда не ввяжется в самоубийственную войну с Россией ради Турции.

I think so. They probably provide information through satellites and financial/diplomatic support.

The direct conflict is highly improbable. But even if it did happen, for sure NATO would support its member state, but the real question is, how much resources they'd actually invest in such a conflict? Not a game-changing amount, IMO.
