1) В Грузии прозападное правительство и сильные анти-русские настроения.
2)Турция - член НАТО, а это значит, что любой удар по ней приведёт к войне с США.
СССР мог теоретически победить НАТО, но для нынешней РФ война с США будет самоубийством.

2) Статья 5 устава НАТО гласит, что в случае агрессии в отношении члена альянса остальные члены обязаны предпринять соответствующие меры. Какие именно - умалчивается. Могут, например, выразить сочувствие или осуждение. А если агрессия против турок будет осуществлена на территории Сирии, то соглашения НАТО в этом случае вообще не работают.

There was an effort to make a referendum about membership in EU and NATO, but it unsurprisingly didn't happen. And neither is going to anytime soon. I don't know, remember that France and Britain went to war with Russia for Turkey in 1854.
