A church in Sweden has decided that referring to Jesus as “he” is too limiting, and has sought to “broaden” the appeal of God by making Jesus more inclusive and gender-neutral.
In a recent Christmas advertisement produced by the Church of Sweden, Jesus no longer possesses the antiquated gender pronoun "he". Rather, "hen", a gender neutral innovation introduced to the Swedish language the new, more inclusive pronoun has been used to refer to the Son of God.
"It's not necessary… But the important thing is not that Jesus was a man, but rather a true human," said Susanne Senter, dean for the Church of Sweden's Västerås congregation in an interview with Swedish Radio.
While Senter acknowledged that it wasn't "necessary" to change the pronoun of Jesus, she did claim that the new, gender-neutral Jesus is more inclusive, and might not turn away some people from the church.

"People can live with their beliefs and their expressions… But it might be that some of the traditional expressions block some people [from going to church]," the dean went on to say.
The Church of Sweden has recently made headlines for its aversion to the use of gendered vocabulary in reference to God.

The olden Vikings conquered far off lands and brought home pride and joy. The modern day Vikings think about sex and sex related issues, as I figure out, most of the time. With changes like this may I suggest other changes: Mary, mother of Jesus is a human being and "her" should not be used in reference to hen. Ecce Homo (Behold, the man) should then be changed to Ecce Uno (Behold one)or Ecce Hen (Behold someone of any gender) The words of the Creed should be changed where it says "and was made man" to "and was made hen" and INRI - Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews) may be more acceptable to women as: Iesus Nazaarenus Regina Iudaeorum (Jesus of Nazareth, Queen? of the Jews. Are we so bored in the world that we pursue such nonsense. And there will be thousands of words to change all in the name of equality and affirmation. Good luck to the new Vikings, who should change the word Viking to Vi-hen to make it more gender neutral and hope that the green hens in phantom submarines don't get to them.
