Well in average, I don't know sincerely. It's an area under-studied, from what I've seen however Vibo Valentia concentrate really the more outliers, I think it's the most outlying region in Calabria.

I had found also a guy with 10% East Anglia (Anglo) in his autosomal results, remnant from Normans. There are also people that have some Occitan/Arbereshe ancestry in Cosenza area so you see : not simple. Maybe also Norman/Longobard.

We have nearly 0 samples from Crotone as well, so the calabrian "average", I don't know what it means.

Well we have to ask Davidski where did he get that. Now there's is en Eurogenes blog a spreadsheet with other calabrians example, we could run them and see if there is someone very exotic.

Problem is : we don't have the location.

It's something very important that all people forget. Without the location it means little/nothing, I believe also that coastal areas would be more outlying than inland areas. "Generally speaking" because there were also crypto-jewish communities in Cosenza, and people also that later fled in mountainous villages in the Sila. An old user here, Jman, provided results from his grandfather, coming from one village from la Sila, he matched Jewish people. And really if you match Jewish is that you've an hidden jewish background.

East med doesn't really have to mean swarthy, but with the others component yes.

Make sense. Maybe searching in anthrogenica you could find samples from specific places, but I'm not sure.

Maltese are almost exactly as western sicilians, maybe a bit more MENA.

That guy with 10% East Anglia came from Reggio Calabria. A city at 10km of Mileto (very important city for Normans). His family is incredibly tall and blue eyed.
