Overrated movie directors according to you (give us one name)

Christopher Nolan.

Just watched Interstellar (has fantastic 8.6 grade at IMDB) and I realised there is not a single of his films I really liked. Many of his films like Inception and Dark Knight are highly praised (watched both), but I find them overrated. They are obviously well-made, stylish, and concept in piece like Inception is fastastically creative, but they left me cold. Somehow they are all style and no substance, lacking emotion and filled with characters we end up not caring about.

I even found all of his films overall bit boring.
EDIT: Forgot to mention Dunkirk, nothing special as well apart from effects.

Who do you consider overrated and why? Ofcourse we can disagree

Inception lacking emotion and no substance? That dude spend several lifes on madeup place dreaming, while he basically killed his wife.

Other than that, imo fast and furious movies are incredibly stupid and overrated, especially the new ones.
Watching star wars as a kid I was fascinated and amazed how good it was, when I watched it recently, imo it lacks a bit and is slightly overrated.

About Nolan, have to admit I didn't watch his older work like Memento and Prestige which sound interesting, and are possibly better than his newer work.

Steven Spielberg. Great director, don't get me wrong, but I feel he was better at making blockbusters than truly great films. Jaws and Saving Private Ryan were probably his two best works (IMO) but those don't stack up to Godfather I, Godfather II, and Apocalypse Now from the far less prolific Francis Ford Coppola.

I think idea is amazing, but I didn't care about Leo's character. Even his wife was psychotic like and plain evil. DiCaprio is good actor, but he was never to my liking, somehow he lacks charisma. I think he is best at comic roles. This isn't fault of director though, but I don't like his characters depth and film was messy, hard to follow and in my opinion going to fast just to appear more attractive.

PS Leonardo Dicaprio is too similar in many of his roles. I still don't consider him bad, but surely overrated to be considered best of his generation. This is offtopic though.

The holy trinity of overrated directors:

Only edgy teens love their movies. As a director, Nolan doesn't bring anything new, this guy doesn't have an own style (like Fincher, Lynch, Kubrick, Scorsese, Leone, etc), is just generic shot after generic shot. This guy doesn't seem to try to do anything challenging. All of his movies have a lame plot twist that doesn't even matter to the story (Memento, Inception) or one that is too obvious (Interstellar).

Dunkirk was the most boring and sterile war movie I ever had the displeasure of watching.

Steven Spielberg is never overrated believe me, actually he is one of few directors where you can find actually bad movies. You forgot Schindlers list, Indiana Jones series - Sensation at time, Catch me if you can, Jurassic Park - Another sensation, could continue. He moved music industry 20 years forward.
