Sam Mendes sucks. Michael Mann underrated, The Last of the Mohicans and Heat are fantastic.

Yes! Last of the Mohicans is one of my father's all time favs. I ocassionaly listen it's epic soundtrack on Youtube.
About Mendes, 1917 is most overrated film of the year. Nearly as much sterile as Dunkirk, almost a video game like with flat characters but great camera, and not much more.
    Something you forget after watching.

I enjoyed Skyfall though, one of best Bond films in years.
Some of his masterpiece films like American Beauty and Revolutinary Road were plain depressive to me, so I guess overall I don't like him more than the opposite, like you.

Paul Thomas Anderson is also underrated (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood). Martin Scorsese is perfectly rated, maybe the best of his generation.

I still enjoy ET. Spielberg is correctly rated imo.

As for overrated, Peter Jackson comes to mind.

I was just thinking about Spielberg films, and I thought, man he directed the hell outta Back to the Future, that's a great movie. Then I remembered that Robert Zemeckis directed that one haha! I'd say Zemeckis is appropriately rated, though I was a bit disappointed in the last film he did, Marwen.

I could direct better Bond movies than Mendes.

WOODY ALLEN and his intello-hipster brain wanking, damn sorry i can't,for NOLAN, JJ ABRAHAMS,TARANTINO
NOLAN :the prestige, and his first indie movie the following or follower ,in black and white, the batman trilogy, interstellar is so fucking boring for a SCIFI movie and the scenario is a cope of some previous one,i mean all the first part meaning 1 hour is fucking snoozing,JJ abrahams for star trek and Cloverfield, damn i'am bluff by his technique, yep i think than JJ have add something to the ultra high tech vision of star trek where the new star wars trilogy are somewhat half boring and half intertaining ,Tarantino certainly not the fist KILL BILL,damn is so fucking bad, where the second part is so much better ,skip the awfull first part and go straight to the second part, there is overated and overated i mean some hollywood and press wanking around some movies, but sometimes they deserve some awards ,sometimes i skip some movies to much heard around and later i finally watch it,and finally i found that's yes it was very good, whatever the subject ,but when it's intello-hipsters is awfull, and ,we, french are the specialists of the full empty void of nothing of the intello-hipster wanking with claude lelouch, speaking of french "reals",Luc Besson is a bit overated with movies like LUCY,but very good with Valerian , i think than recently Behn Zeitlin or Michael Haneke are clearly overated ,typical intello-hipsters wanking

This guy doesn't seem to try to do anything challenging. All of his movies have a lame plot twist that doesn't even matter to the story (Memento, Inception) or one that is too obvious (Interstellar).

Dunkirk was the most boring and sterile war movie I ever had the displeasure of watching.
