Do Germans really descend from Ancient Assyrians?

It has been said that the German city of Trier was founded by an ancient Assyrian king and that today many Germans are descendants of ancient Assyrians. Is that based on any truth or is it just a myth? Do Germans usually score any West Asian on DNA tests?
