Btw my uncle (father's brother) emigrated into Ireland in late 80s, he's an Irish citizen but returned to Croatia long time ago. When he was in Ireland there were basically no foreigners there and he went due to adventure (he's musician), not economic reasons.

Even today, most foreigners in Ireland are from the UK and Eastern Europe. (Although there are some notable communities of Nigerians, Zimbabweans and Chinese in Dublin too. Plus some of the Britons who have migrated to Ireland in recent years are themselves from ethnic minority backgrounds).
