no. they're just tourist destinations who got contaminated first(entry points), and they have a very old population due to high life expectancy. Add to that their somewhat bad finances and it's a really tough situation.

Old people are the susceptible ones, when a vitus strikes your retirement homes this is the result. At least in Italy things seems getting better. With our infections decreasing deaths will follow soon. I don't want to bet on dead peoples but I saw that some countries get 1000+ deaths per day at this range I bet Italy will be surpassed in the next weeks/months before this pandemy is gone.

What is the mood in Italy now?

It seems our infections curve is decreasing, it's been days we get only around 2500 new cases per day.
