Yes, here in the US I'm sure there are due to virtue signaling. I think that glorification of low culture lowers the culture. Back in the 1930s, almost everyone listened to classical music, even Opera. It was common for people to play those tunes at home and discuss their favorites. Topics such as, which is your favorite, German or Italian Opera were still a thing. And there was still classical (orchestral) music and operas being composed in that era. In fact, as much as people crow about Elvis "stealing black music," most of his better well known songs were taken from Italian operas!
