How black would Latin American countries be if the One Drop Rule was applied in the region?
For those who do not know what the One Drop Rule is, it was basically a racist law in the USA that claimed any individual with a drop of black ancestry as black
So if you had 2% black, you were considered black and segregated (you would had been forced to live in black communities)
Obviously, there were many who passed as white to gain equal treatment or continue with their education or have a stable job
but if they found out they had black ancestry, all that would be the end of it for them in the USA
One Drop Rule:
Mexico - 80% black
Guatemala - 40% black
El Salvador - 100% black
Honduras - 100% black
Nicaragua - 80% black
Costa Rica - 97% black
Panama - 90% black
Colombia - 90% black
Ecuador - 60% black
Peru - 30% black
Venezuela - 90% black
Brazil - 90% black
Bolivia - 20% black
Chile - 70% black
Uruguay - 10% black
Argentina - 60% black
Paraguay - 80% black
Cuba - 90% black
Puerto Rico - 99% black
Dominican Republic - 100% black
