How black would Latin American countries be if the One Drop Rule was applied in the region?
For those who do not know what the One Drop Rule is, it was basically a racist law in the USA that claimed any individual with a drop of black ancestry as black
So if you had 2% black, you were considered black and segregated (you would had been forced to live in black communities)

Obviously, there were many who passed as white to gain equal treatment or continue with their education or have a stable job
but if they found out they had black ancestry, all that would be the end of it for them in the USA

I think these are reasonable numbers, yeah. Latin America is profoundly influenced by Sub-Saharan African cultures. Even countries who falsely portray themselves as ''white'', like Argentina, have strong black roots. Tango, the national rythm of Argentina, has an etymology from Niger-Congo roots and other examples are plentiful..

Yeah I have said that before about Argentina and Tango, even the name Tango is of African origin. I guess the origin of the dance disappeared with the arrival of Europeans who claimed it as theirs
no different from what happens now a days with whites appropriating and claiming black things


There was a recent case of a white girl who stole and claimed a TikTok dance as hers, she actually made money and she was being shown on commercial and social media ads
the dance turned out to be from a little African American girl who was never given credit for it

the white girl who was given so much exposure and credited for this famous dance




the real creator of this dance, a 14 year old African American
the white girls are in the back, they decided to collaborate with her after Charlie was exposed for stealing this dance





and many will say, whats the big deal? its just a dance
the problem is when white people start to steal from black creators and start making thousands of dollars from it

in america, anyone who has black ancestry was black
even if you were only 1% SSA

in Latin America, majority of us have black ancestry, whether its 1% or 90% black

It is true, but as far as I know average SSA on Bolivians and Peruvians (respectively 20-30% in your chart) is higher than average Chilean (70% according your search). Same for Paraguay.
