EU countries have common military defense pact, our population is 600 million, with modern technology, giant economy, nuclear weapons too.
Russian population is 140 million with mostly obsolete 50-60 years old tanks, aircrafts, low economy...

Is this why Merkel went into full blown panic mode when Trump called the future of NATO and our presence in Western Europe into question? NATO should have been dissolved when the USSR fell, but it wasn't. Because Eastern European countries as well as Germany still wanted to be protected by big and strong America. You outsource your army, it's only natural to pay for it. If you don't want to waste money on NATO use it on building your own army. As long as Merkel runs the ship that won't happen though.

NATO also has Poland under its protection and it will never allow the Russia-Germany party again like they did with the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.
