That's normal, the descendants of Mexicans in the US become more and more assimilated to the mainstream American culture after each generation, and these also tend to be less encouraged to speak Spanish by their parants:

There's a stereotype of supposedly Mexicans way racist than white Americans towards black people because we have been brain washed the darker the uglier therefore is a humiliation towards the Mexican family.
