Manning Johnson (1908-1959) gave this address (date unknown) to an audience in the Broadway Tabernacle in Seattle, Washington. He passed away due to a coronary condition not long afterwards.

During his talk, Johnson spoke of certain conditions that had existed in the American South (segment from 15:50-17:01):

segregated churches: at one time, blacks worshiped with whites. At some later point, a number of black people decided to form their own denomination, the African Methodist (African Methodist Episcopal?) church.

segregated schools: in many parts of the South, black leaders approved and voted for segregated schools.

Regardless of race, all Americans should be equal before the law and enjoy full civil rights; it's just that we need to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth, not the fables that we've been taught until now.

I'm not sure to what extent Black ethnocentrism is so universal though. In Britain, Blacks (mainly Caribbeans) are the non-white ethnic group that marry out the most, whereas in the US it is the opposite.
