it is tough, anyway you need more preparation to make a stroganoff or goulash from elk meat. in my grandmother family, if they had a good hunting for the elk in the end of the autumn, they prepeared pelmeni (russian dumplings) for all winter, packed them in the wooden boxes and kept in the backyard on the frost. russians traditionaly had problems with pastures and grass for cows, so yes beef is not so popular.

What do Russians think of Lithuanians?

Why do Russians consider Lithuanians and Latvians Western peoples but not Poles?

Discussions where it was said the Baltic republics were always considered outsiders in the USSR and essentially part of the West.

I've also heard Russians say that Lithuania has an essentially Western mentality that is different to that of the Russian speaking world.

I think some of Russians might wish those fellows were eaten by their pets asap so that the rest of people felt safer But I just wish them get smarter and more modest and moderate.

I don't think that Russians consider Balts more Western than Poles. The idea is
    quite unexpected.

Poland isn't a part of "Russian speaking world". But if part of real "Russian
speaking world" compared, I'm still not sure if they really are considerably
more Western or want to be it. I lack info about them.
Lithuanians probably are closer to Russians because they used to have a real significant state not so
long ago unlike the rest. Thus the lack some complexes.
I know about this Lithuanian guy who was very
positive about Russians but it might be just a very rare case. I've heard
enough of adequate opinions in interviews anyway.
