The average person does not have a definite opinion regarding them but we have good relations with every other region\nation in the Iberian Peninsula. Personally, I think of the Basque Country and Catalonia as two of the most industrious and developed regions of Spain. We did not have as much contact with them throughout history as we did with Galicians and Castillians.

Some are more sympathetic with their struggle, some view them as opportunistic but most are neutral to them. Or don't really care.

Why are Portuguese often more light than Spaniards (not trolling). Do Portuguese have more Visigoth in their admixture?

We usually have more steppe related ancestry in comparison with Spaniards but we are talking about a difference that can range from 2% to 5% on average depending on the Spanish region, not a drastic difference. Some Spanish regions also have higher hunter-gather related ancestry than we do.

The Portuguese as well as the Galicians have more Suebi related ancestry rather than Visigoth. The Suebis were the Germanic tribe that left the biggest impact in the peninsula despite inhabiting a smaller portion of the territory. The highest frequency of Germanic toponyms in the peninsula is to be found in Galiza and Portugal.

Some people perceive the Spanish people as being lighter, others believe it is the Portuguese. From my personal experience it is virtually the same proportion of light and brunette people either in Portugal or Spain, give it or take.

WTF?! Portuguese people are definitely NOT lighter than Spaniards at all.
Many of the most exotic Iberians I've ever seen were actually Portuguese!
