It was never easier for CCP to Win the hearts of Chinese by saying:

"Wanna become Democratic and Free? Free like those in Europe who are swarmed by foreigners and where natives are prosecuted by government"

If China ever shifts away from Communism it will be towards Russian-style Oligarchy which is just a different form of Totalitarian government run by Boyars and powerful Russian clans.

Honestly, you can't compare China with any European country, there are 1 billion of them, they never will be replaced by any foreigner. Also, their language is a barrier even greater than any sea.
