Default Which do you think was the first European to step on America?

I think it was Erik the Red but his discovery was irrelevant and over time he was forgotten on the contrary with Cristobal Colombus officially registered the contention of America to European nations.

Rodrigo de Triana was the first European to see America, in the travel of Colon.
No idea who was the first to step it.

If we're going simply with the first Euro to step in the American continent, even if his presence was irrelevant regarding colonization, then I'll go with Erik.

Erik the Red arrived in Canada in the Newfoundland area in the 10th century and called it Vinland, Fundo, a colony of Vikings there, but his colony lasted very little and the records were only in the hands of the Icelandic and Norwegians Vikings.

True, If they couldn't get to North America after being able to sail all the way to Greenland, they would be the luckiest fools on earth . The two greatest sailing civilizations ever were the Scandinavians and the Polynesians, I would say the Polynesians maybe even more so than the Scandinavians. I will give credit where it's due.
