New application "Covid-19 Armenia" was launched

The mobile application is fully developed by Armenian specialists and it allows users to test for the risk of coronavirus infection.

The application asks for answers to some questions, and after receiving them, the system evaluates the user's health status, giving recommendations if necessary.

According to the system assessment, those who are at risk will be contacted by epidemiologists who will decide whether to take them for treatment or not.

Covid-19 Armenia is a multifunctional application that will contain the latest information on the actions of the authorities in combating the pandemic, it will include recommendations on how to avoid infection, statistics on coronavirus and many other useful information.

In Armenia, 10 hospitals and medical centers focus exclusively on the treatment of patients with coronavirus

Doctors work around the clock and seven days a week. Many of them are not at home for weeks. Every day, the number of patients infected with coronavirus increases. And doctors cannot leave the sick.

An epidemiological history is collected from the patient who is admitted to the hospital, a sample is taken. The patient is isolated and if the test result is negative, then they are discharged, and if positive, they are transferred to the department of confirmed cases.

10 clinics in the country now accept only patients with coronavirus. Most specialists had to change their profile. Everyone is fighting the infection: cardiologists, resuscitators, therapists. The most experienced doctors retrain their colleagues.

Armenian Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said that according to the situation, 146 patients were diagnosed with pneumonia.

Most patients with coronavirus do not even have a fever, but 146 people have been diagnosed with pneumonia. About 35 people are in serious condition. Most of them do not need resuscitation, but they receive oxygen in hospitals. Eight patients are in critical condition.

According to him, patients in mild and asymptomatic forms were not placed in hospitals, but in hotels where doctors were watching them. “In medical institutions, specially for patients with coronavirus, about 1.4 thousand beds are allocated, which are approximately half occupied. About 1.5 thousand citizens are isolated, 5 thousand are self-isolated,” the minister said, urging self-isolated citizens to abide by the rules.

"We monitor their health, they are gradually coming out of self-isolation. Now more than 4,000 people have already left self-isolation, and their number is gradually growing. We are testing everyone on the 14th day of isolation, and in case of a negative result, they will return home," the minister said.

"Some patients with mild or absent symptoms are not hospitalized, but are under the supervision of doctors," he explained.

A state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus operates in Armenia from March 16 to April 14. Restrictions on free movement and certain types of economic activity in Armenia in a state of emergency (previously imposed for the period from March 24 to March 31) were extended until April 12 inclusive.

Armenia to start producing coronavirus test kits

Armenia considers setting up production of coronavirus test kits, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

The funds will be provided by Government to the Institute of Molecular Biology to set up the production.

“Specialists have assured it is possible to organize the production of tests at the Institute,” the Prime Minister noted.

Less tension in healthcare system of Armenia

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday reported a reduction in tension in the country's health care system because of coronavirus.

“The tension has slightly decreased, including because our system has adapted. I can only say that today we have 1,400 beds intended for patients with coronavirus, but only half of them are occupied today. This means that our tension is not too great,” he said.

Pashinyan added that the number of extremely severe cases also fell yesterday, as the condition of two patients with coronavirus emerged from a critical stage.

“Once again, I want to thank our medical staff and recall that these statistics tell us about the effectiveness of the restriction policy. I ask you to adhere to the restrictions more seriously this week so that we can start a mitigation strategy on Monday, if the statistics give such an opportunity", said the prime minister.

A state of emergency in order to suppress the spread of coronavirus operates in Armenia from March 16 to April 14. Restrictions on free movement and certain types of economic activity in Armenia in a state of emergency (previously imposed for the period from March 24 to March 31) were extended until April 12 inclusive.

As of April 7, in Armenia, 853 confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded (plus 20 new cases). 87 patients were cured, eight people died.

Armenian community in Egypt donates LE 1M million to to fight coronavirus

The Armenian community in Egypt donated LE one million to the Tahya Misr Fund under the name of the Armenian Orthodox Patriarchate in Cairo and Alexanderia in contribution to the country's anti-coronavirus efforts.

According to a statement issued by the Immigration Minister Nabila Makram on Sunday, she expressed appreciation to the Armenian Egyptians who responded to the appeal of Tahya Misr Fund amid the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and hailed their patriotic role.

Under the theme "We are the Egyptian Armenians" held in the ministry to celebrate the Armenian community in Egypt, the minister described it as part and parcel of the society.

She further highlighted the key role of the Egyptian Armenians in Egypt's modern history.
