Talking Post the list of surnames of people from your grandparents' places of birth

As the title states, post the list of surnames of people from your grandparents' places of birth.

For privacy reasons, you don't need to write your ancestral surnames or name the place of the village/town. The name of the district (county in Romania) or region should do.

For those in R. Moldova, you can find this info here.
Type the name of the locality on the right, click it and scroll down to the list of surnames.
On that site, the distribution of ethnicities in that place is also shown and for some of them they even have the historic description from Zamfir Arbore (Dictionarul Geografic al Basarabiei an. 1904).

I don't know a similar database for Romania, but if someone does then please share it and I will add it here.

So, your ancestry is basically 3/4 Northwestern and 1/4 Central, because Ungheni is usually counted as Central.

There are some Ukrainian influenced surnames here and there, but overall they are mostly Moldovan/Romanian, like the names of the villages.

Mostly from the region inside the red circle. From my paternal side, I have some ancestry from Iași county, Romania, since the village is located on the left bank of river Prut.

This is the oldest mention of the village of my mother, where is mentioned a person from this village, and is from late 16th century.

Nope, I never bothered to dig deeper into the origin of the villages. I just looked into church records for the family tree.
Did you just google the name of the village randomly or is there a specific chronicle/archive that might have this info?

    Thanks, I'll look into this.
I actually just remembered that I have a whole book on the maternal village on my dad's side, Trebujeni. It was known as Şehr al-Cedid in the 14th century.

The most interesting facts for me:

Tataro-Mongols founded that town, which later downgraded to a village after their administration was taken over by Moldovans.
They started off as Shamanists and Muslims, but later converted to Christianity.

Soviet anthropologists looked at the remains of the old inhabitants of the settlement and concluded that 25% were Mongol, the rest of the 75% were European, but mixed. Out of those 75% some were locals, while others came from Povolgia, North of the Black Sea and Crimea.

So at least 25% of those people were of possible mixed East Ukrainian-Tatar descent, possibly some Crimean Greek.
    Just a 26.6% European individual
