It is an habit that was adopted from the Greeks this is well known and you know (or perhaps not considering your knowledge of history) that in any case was always a minority compared to hetero marriages and limited to those who had slaves. But those were different times and cultures don't derail the thread into a Roman one and think about modern Spain the most LGBD friendly country in Europe.
