Default Why were there no prominent Ottoman Bulgarians?

Almost every subject nation in the Ottoman Empire produced individuals who rose to high positions.

We had Bosniak, Circassian, Greek, and even Armenian viziers, for instance. Same goes for generals and civil servants.

    But never Bulgarian. How come?

Ottomans prefer to utilize subjects living in the mountains not plains.

You don't know "your" history very well. There was a bulgarian vizier. I guess that the reason why there was only one is because bulgarians weren't as inclined to collaborate (kiss ass) as other ethnic groups. Albanians top this "prestigious" ranking.

Or weren't they just given the opportunity?
The peoples of Egypt, Greece, with a more renowned history, did achieve high positions in the Ottoman service. Is it because they were simply better ass kissers? I doubt its "just" that.
All that matters to humans (since the dawn of mankind), when given the opportunity, is money, greed, power and lust. No such thing as "being inclined or being not inclined". Talking about a general rule that is, not exceptions.

I do agree about Albos though

If your contention is that past achievements and statehood is what it takes to produce civil servants then how did albanians gave so many viziers and other type of servants to the turks? It's very simple, some people bend over easily, others do it reluctantly and some don't do it at all. With the exception of greeks bulgarians were the most influential and powerful ethnic group that succumbed to turkish conquest. With their experience in state building they should've generated civil servant after civil servant but they didn't. You said maybe they weren't given the opportunity and that could be an indication as to why they didn't serve the turks. Managers (in this case the turks) want obedient good boys who will do what they're told.

Egyptians, at the time of turkish conquest, haven't been in control of their own destiny for 2000 years. Hardly a bunch with great pedigree.

In response to your theory that all that matters to humans is money, power and so on - there are examples of people who chose to die only not to serve, obey and turn to turkish ways.
