Very much like Czech but with some Polish-like twist to it, there are more sentences that can be identical / almost identical to those from my native language. I mean from a distance one could confuse someone using Slovak for Polish language.

From my maternal language perspective, definitely can hear similarity to Serbo-Croat. If am not wrong, out of all West and East Slavic languages, Slovakian is the most similar to Serbo-Croatian language. The Central Slovak dialects were in the Pannonian Basin and made a continuum with South Slavic languages (particularly with Kajkavian dialect) before the arrival of the Hungarians and further influence from West Slavic languages. From the Serbo-Croatian perspective, they sound as if a standard Shtokavian Croatian with additional Bosnian or Serbian accent spoke a mixture of Chakavian-Kajkavian dialect & Slovenian language and other West Slavic language.
