Interesting, you are so northern shifted that i thought you were half Piedmontese half Swiss or something like that.

PCA definitely shows some variation however none of the Aostan samples is really close to Northern French (new Pas-de-Calais + Seine-Maritime samples), though a couple of Swiss French - probably from Fribourg or Biel/Bienne area - seem to go in that direction:

*I marked the two old samples as Italian_Aosta_Valley_OLD, they are quite close to each other
In reality only one sample has more a "Northern French" leaning, I should have precised :

For Swiss French, I would like to have the location of the samples as well (I don't know if Davidski have them), however Bienne/Biel is barely Swiss France, or proper Romandy, people there are considered as Swiss Germans.

For Aostans, there are clearly Italian shifted samples, and I definitely think that these are from areas "closer" to Piedmonte.

I don't agree, recently I managed to find many pictures from my distant aostan part, and they look indistinguishable from French, now it's the NW part of the valley, very close to France geographically, but phenotypically I didn't noticed any differences with people on the other side of the border. They look very alike.

All Aostans look the same to me, extremely familiar and relatable faces; it's impossible to tell if someone is from lower or upper valley (my Aostan ancestry is from Val di Rhêmes) by phenotype.

On the other hand these savoyards look like regular French to me:

Same for this guy, no idea if mixed but he would not pass in Aosta:

We can have different point of view, but really I haven't find noticeable differences phenotypically with French here. And you know I live in Haute-Savoie so I know well the average phenotype.

My aostan ancestry seems to be from Introd.
