Ancient Greeks were as classical Med or more classical Med than Greeks today. Greeks today have as much or more light hair than the ancients. For each, I think the former is the most likely. And whether you disagree with me on the frequency of light hair and eyes or not, you can at least agree we are now as light-haired or more. And certainly as classical Med or less classical Med than our forefathers.

I would say Greeks became lighter with regards to the frequency of light hairs and eyes.

But you can find the same types that were common among Ancient Greeks still even among Greeks today plus additional
types that exist among todays(possibly through mixing or assimilating foreign people) of course

I seriously doubt Dorians of Peloponnese were much lighter than Myceneaens to give Homer that impresion.

A study by was done in 2013 where they gathered a group of people in Greece. 11 were blonde, 45 were light brown, 49 were dark brown and 11 were black. It's far more common to find blonde females among Greeks because they have a thing for doing that (not sure why). In my Greek community more are blonde actually than black or dark brown, but that's because so many of them dye their hair. You can tell by the root of the hair, it starts off dark. The males in my community are very unlikely to be blonde, quite a few light browns though.

Most Greeks are not naturally blonde. Many people on here will troll you into believing so by saying "I know a Greek and my Greek family are all blonde hair blue eyed" or by showing a few nit-picked photos. In reality, most Greeks are within the range of light brown to black hair, mostly dark brown.

Dyed hair doesn't count but yeah it has been a trend for Greek women to dye their hair blond and it can be misleading with regard to such discussion
still you can find a few Greeks with natural blond or fair hair color no matter where you go in Greece and Greek men are very unlikely to dye their hair
