Can italians really be considered European?

Southerners can have up to 30% MENA DNA. Wouldnt this make them non-white and non european? Of course they are still considered caucasian, but not European.

I think everything depends on how you look at it. Of course, to a certain degree. I vote for yes, for sure.

Sadly they have more serious problems right now than proving their European identity to people who are irrelevant to Europe

Yes , not only thay are Europeans, but also a very important country , united or separated, for the European History.

Any Italian must be considered European even if they would have 100% MENA in their DNA.

They are literally from Europe. Besides majority of their ancestry is not MENA so putting them in that category despite that + them not identifying with that would be silly.
