Science olympiads are a big thing in Eastern Europe. Gifted students are encouraged to participate in regional levels. Going to international olympiad and winning a medal is the only chance for us to study a scientific course in a prestigious university in USA or UK, like Harvard or Cambridge.

If you look back into the formation of the Hungarian state, it is even more remarkable that a people who were living a steppe nomadic lifestyle just decades before, by 1000 managed to found one of the oldest standing states, with strong, continuous institutions to this day in the middle of Europe. The success of Hungary is definitely the consciousness of this old legacy and tradition that we have, which always gave a sort of feeling of uniqueness, even pride, that had driven the population to excel and live up to this legacy. Another thing that helped was the realization that bringing many diverse people together and welcoming them into our community will only make us stronger, better equipped for any future hardships. The credo of our nation is of welcoming and respecting the foreigners, and it was uttered by our first king, Saint Stephen already in the early 11th century in his legendary "Admonitions":

“For a country of one single language and one set of customs is weak and vulnerable. Therefore I enjoin on you, my son, to protect newcomers benevolently and to hold them in high esteem so that they should stay with your rather than dwell elsewhere."

Unfortunately our current government is the complete antithesis of the "Admonitions", and choosing self-isolation politics will cost us on the long-term.

Thanks to answer (automatically) to my next question. The one which answer I would have known already....

So few kids of whole generations have been tested/caught up as their young age ... partly for this purpose (competition). They have been educated special ways vs average kids ... and finally as they become adult age ... they'll move to western countries to benefit those. And the rest of kids will go through school systems which are **** like the PISA shows.

Pretty nice system ....if purpose is: Look; we (our country) has won some titles!

Opposite I wonder is that the best / the fastest system to this:
Develop your country's economy into the levels that others (Western EU) will not anymore need to support you.


There is time and place to be ''proud''. First one should build strong bases of house before starting to concentrate inside decorations/small details ... by thinking how fancy the covers might look out.

Sorry, I have no doubts that Hungarins could not get there. They will; if they are half as smart as Estonians and Finns ... and if they really are even smarter than those... absolutely. I just critized the system (read: Eastern European menthality) ... using/waisting resources/efforts to wrong matters.

Good racial stock, and a respect for their culture and origins. I've always been impressed by the ability of Hungarians to resist occupation and carve out their own destiny in their history, now, and hopefully in their future. They are a lesson in how to resist against the global elite.

My only issue is some of them being Turanists and Turkophiles. The Hungarian flag in their flag is a crown granted to them by Michael VII Doukas, its so odd to see Finno-Ugric descendants larping as Turkics.
