I think Grant is more Scottish looking than English, in line with his ancestry, and that's partly what makes him non-continental looking; as you said, the English are a lot more continental passing than Insular Celts.
    Spoiler!

Really? I didn't even know he was of Scottish ancestry but to me he looks regular southern English and therefore is more likely to pass in Benelux etc I don't notice anything Scottish about him.

Come on mate, 'Hugh Grant', does that sound like an English name?

    https://ethnicelebs.com/hugh-grant#:...0other%20films.

Birth Name: Hugh John Mungo Grant

Place of Birth: Hammersmith, London, England, U.K.

Date of Birth: 9 September, 1960

Ethnicity: Scottish (mostly), English, with distant Irish, Welsh, Cornish, and Dutch, remote Afrikaner/French/Belgian [Walloon]

Hugh Grant is a British actor and producer. His roles include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, and Love Actually, among many other films.

Hugh is the son of Fynvola Susan (MacLean), a teacher, and Captain James Murray Grant, who served in the military. His father was an officer in the Seaforth Highlanders for eight years in Malaya and Germany, and also ran a carpet firm and was a watercolour painter. His father’s ancestry was almost entirely Scottish, and his mother was of part Scottish descent. Hugh also has English, and more distant Irish, Welsh, Cornish, and Dutch, roots, as well as remote Afrikaner/French/Belgian [Walloon] ancestry.
Admittedly he does look less Scottish/Insular Celtic as he's gotten older.
    Spoiler!
