I'm not saying you want to learn French but learning French is a lot easier than learning Russian , Chinese or Japanese. Once you know French it is easier to learn Spanish and Italian.

But Russian you can travel to a lot a more places and get by, French would be great if I was planning on visiting Africa where it's more widespread.

I learned it for my major at uni, Cyrillic is super easy but you will want to spend extra time listening to native speakers. I will try to find the show my professor made us watch on youtube, it was funny and helpful.

Yea I have been watching Russian and Ukranian TV (know they are different). I did the same with Spanish when I tried started to learn proper Spanish and not Mexcian American Calo.
