Can that word stop being used. The name change of the country did not change the people's self identification as Macedonians-Makedonci. The ethnicity did not change because some politicians decided to have a circle jerk near a lake.

I'm seeing people use the cringe phrase on here, and even on some news articles.

People do not know that according to the Prespa Agreement we are Macedonians not North Macedonians. Macedonians can be citizens of Australia, Canada, Greece, Bulgaria ....and so on citizens of North Macedonia ???"North Macedonians"??? that is the price of being member of Nato and perhaps in some not foreseeable future member of EU. In my opinion we paid for the membership too much.

It's called that because the original / real Macedonia is in the north of Greece (Whether or not this is "true" or factual, this is why it is called that)

I'm not talking about the name change to "North Macedonia". That's a different issue on it's own. I'm talking about how people are calling us "North Macedonians" as an ethnicity. Which is inaccurate, as the name of the ethnicity has never been changed.

What happens to me with ancestry from Northern Greece? I am not north Macedonian, i am south Macedonian. Just as an example of how stupid the term North Macedonian is.
