Default What are the most densely and sparsely populated regions of your country?

In the UK, London/Southeast England and the West Midlands are the most densely-populated regions, while Mid-Wales and the Scottish Highlands are the most sparsely-populated.

Most densely populated: Budapest and Pest county in general
Most sparsely: I'm not sure, but I think it's the Mátra mountain range

South Khorasan, despite being one of the largest provinces in Iran it's total population is only 500,000 and around 60% of it is uninhabitable (Desert/Mountains). Population density outside of Birjand (the capital) is like 2 or 3 people per square kilometer

Rio de Janeiro, DF, Sao Paulo, Alagoas, Sergipe, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará and Paraná more or less in this order.

Roraima, Amapa, Amazonas and Acre are the least populated.

There is a brazilian concentration in the North(Esquina Nordestina) and another in the South. Both separated by Bahia and Minas.

The most densely populated regions of the country are the eastern half generally while the western half is more sparse. More specifically interior western states like Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Nebraska have small populations but California, Washingon, Oregon have a decent population density. Alaska is also mostly uninhabited.

There is really no place outside of major cities that is necessarily "crowded" by global standards, however. It is a large spread out nation overall.

NW Croatia is most densely populated region, followed by narrow coastal belt in central Dalmatia. Rest of the country is quite sparsely populated.

Agree with your observations in general. Btw colorado isnt that sparse. It has higher population and population density than Oregon for example. Colorado is the 21st most populous state actually and is around Wisconsin and Minnesota in population.

Sparsely populated : Central France and some parts of Western France (Aquitaine, Poitou...). The so-called diagonale du vide also that is from SW France to Metz area(Lorraine).

Most populated : Paris region, Hauts-de-France (region north of Paris), Alsace, Rhône-Alpes (where I live, Central/SE France), Provence-Alpes Côtes d'Azur (southern France, near Italy), Occitanie (near Spain med coast).
