Demise of a Libyan "symbol of freedom"

[Trouble]

Back in 2011 Iman al Obeidi burst into a hotel filled with foreign journalists in Libya after having been claimed to be imprisoned, raped, and beaten by Gaddafi's army. She was considered a voice of freedom in the Arab spring.

I remember that story from 2011, went back to see what came of it. Turns out that same woman was granted asylum in the United States and went to prison in 2015 after multiple blatant violations of US law including assault and being arrested FOUR times in a span of a few years:

They allege the woman had mental health issues and trauma related to what she claims to have experienced in Libya in 2011 as well as not being able to adapt to US society which is what caused these violent outbursts. But who is to say she wasn't always this way, and the story back from 2011 wasn't fabricated or distorted by her somehow? What if we were led into war on the back of lies, again? A few years back I wouldnt have questioned it, now I cant trust anything anymore.

This reminds me of the bullshit story about the Libyan government distributing viagra to Libyan troops to encourage mass rape of civilians, before the yanks went in to kill Gaddafi.



Completely fabricated CIA garbage.

Gadaffi gave permission to the CIA from 2004 to establish a formal presence in the country. Even General Haftar is a CIA asset, since he fled to the US with CIA support after he defected from Libya following his capture when commanding Libyan forces invading Chad.



Although, Gaddafi had a harem of underage boys that he fucked. He regularly had young girls kidnapped, did coke and viagra and then raped the shit out of them, sometimes passing them off to be raped more.

No one can tell if these stories are true or not cause of how dysfunctional these dictatorships are. Only years-decades later we get the truth from classified documents.

As told by someone "who had claimed to have seen it"... while she turned out to be the daughter of the Kuwaiti ambassador to Washington who had been coached by some PR bureau. Or like those weapons of mass destruction. Or like this "American navy ship being attacked by North Vietnam". Or the story of the USS Maine...

It may not be fully staged by the press but no one knows if her particular version of the story can be verified, especially after she has shown herself to be mentally ill and unreliable. It could very well be that some man she was married to/dating beat her up and she made up the story about being held and raped by soldiers for attention. Or it happens that she was imprisoned but the details of it were highly exaggerated.
