They are most southern Slavs genetically, there are certain regions where they plot very close to Ghegs and Macedonian Greeks. Bulgarians and Romanians are more diverse genetically, Serbs are closer to Bosniaks than to Macedonians as a whole.

In most Gedmatch results I always get Bulgarian first around 5th place and Yugo-macos around 10th which makes them closer to Serbs and generally more northern shifted than Bulgarians.

I know that however he is not such anymore since his ancestors were 'grkomani' and willingly absorbed the Hellenism like many of the so called 'Northern Greeks'.
But it's wrong to say that most of them are hellenized Slavs, no.
Most of them are actually hellenized Vlachs, after that Albanians and after that Slavs.
