Dogs(Canis Lupus Familiartus) and modern extant Eurasian Wolves(Canis Lupus Lupus) are sister taxon or sub-species to one another that share a common ancestry(Canus Lupus), not that dogs derive from modern Eurasian Wolves AKA Gray Wolves.
