Not the citizens of Greece it seems.
How is it possible that 10 mil people nation that had numerous financial issues and still has them pays for:
153 x F16C Fighting Falcon
33 x Phantom F4
24 x Mirage 2000
and 200~ other utility and training aircraft.
NATO standard is 200 flying hours in a year (USA use this system).
Average cost per hour for F16,F4, Mirage 2000 is $15.000 per hour (fuel) without amortization that has to be payed through the year (repairs etc..)
so that's yearly 630.000.000 dollars or monthly 52 million dollars.
Utility Aircraft cost way less since they are mostly prop based so I'll use 1/4 of expenditure for jets and that's 157 million per year.
TOTAL: 787 ~ 800 million dollars or 729 million euros a year just for a fuel and I have no idea how to calculate repairs and other expenditure, but let's say roughly a 1 billion euro.
1 billion of euro / year for Greek Airforce is a lot of money and especially for 10 million people nation.
Only two things can solve this:
1. Greeks are flying way bellow NATO standard (200 hours year)
2. Someone else is paying for Greek Airforce
What is it?
