I'm not party to the changes in Ireland as I have never voted there but Irish are still quite traditional in family values. Have you visited?

Im aware of the political landscape of Ireland and it looks concerning to me as a catholic that normally feels sympathy for Ireland.

You should not take it as a offense, I speak the same way about Germany.

I have more traditional views and so do my family members. All of my cousins that live in Ireland never got divorced. The only cousins that got divorced are the ones that went to England so I still think it is quite a traditional country despite people voting for divorce, abortion and gay marriage. I think most people think these things should be left up to the individual but most people are still traditional in their choices. They are still very family orientated. Anyway the Catholic Church in Ireland didn't do themselves any favours with the sex abuse scandals. This was what really changed Irish attitudes to the Catholic Church.

Well, yeah, fully ethnic Irish are much less than 80-100 million. I was talking about all the individuals who have partial Irish ancestry, meaning I included half Irish and 1/4 Irish. Fully ethnic Irish individuals in total, including in Ireland itself, I don't think they're less than 15 million.

Much less that 15 Million also. I'd doubt fully Irish would be 10 million and that would include fully ethnic Irish born overseas. Most Irish overseas marry people in that country i.e Irish in Australia will marry Australians, in Britain will marry British etc. Also the population in Ireland in 1969 was only 2.9 million.

Idk. But, 2,9 million in 1969? Goddamnit, the Irish were truly devastated after the famine... You had 8,5 million in 1845, before the blight? It's known that the population would undeniably fall, but not this much. I feel honestly sorry for you guys.

But for the number of fully Irish people... I have my theory, but don't swear at me if it's wrong XD... So, I think the ethnic Irish were more actually back then, but as marriages with other ethnicities increased, the number of fully ethnic Irish was decimated.

The numbers of Irish is very over-estimated. Irish that immigrated usually marry non-Irish and even in 1980 Ireland population was only 3.9 million. Not sure where all these Irish are supposed to come from.
