I disagree when it comes to musical genres, Portugal and Spain aren't exactly that similar to Italy and Greece. Italian and Greek folk music sound more similar to one another.

Fado shares some similarities with some Southern Italian styles of music.

Mostly because of the culture. Interestingly Galicians are clearly not culturally Mediterranean, even though they are basically the same people.

I only feel Mediterranean ish at most, and only due to some shared cultural elements, apart from that in my particular case I feel a hard time relating to a term that does not include us from a geographic point of view. Moreover our story is deeply linked with the Atlantic . Don't know, maybe I would feel different if I was Southern Portuguese. But as a Northern Portuguese I feel Southern European almost exclusively.

The south of Portugal does not touch the Mediterranean Sea either, it begins in the Strait of Gibraltar. If we consider pure and simple geography.

    No.

Only Southern Italian and some Central Italian music share these similarities.
