I've sometimes wondered if the Scythian claims are an old misinterpretation of the memory of the real Steppe origins of Europeans, but it's probably unlikely that folk history/memory goes back that far.

Scythians are fetishised on TA. But they were eventually defeated everywhere they went, they left behind no legacy, and their direct descendants are very minimal and most have been assimilated into more powerful nations.

The only people who have maintained that identity/culture till this day are the Ossetians, and I respect them for doing so. But the rest of us can't really claim them imo and I don't understand why many of us are.
