I think so, or something similar. When I first listened to Irish I thought it sounded like some strange Eastern European language.

It never struck me as such. Irish seems bizarre, with its lenition and ecliption rules affecting phonology of most words. At least spelling as odd it may seem to my Polish eyes is consistent unlike in English.

I do not agree with the vice versa, learning English for a Spanish-speaker is one of the easiest languages ​​when compared to German or French.

It is a shame that the UK is one of the countries in Western Europe with the lowest learning of other languages, learning a new language helps to enrich the brain in addition to increasing IQ.
