Because if West Ukrainians are pure Slavs then Poles from many areas must be heavily mixed with Balts.

How can West Ukrainian be more western-shifted than Poles? Poles are Slavic peoples + East Germanic peoples. There is almost no Celto-Germanic influence in modern territory of Ukraine

how do you know that? we don't have enough Polish and Ukrainian regional data. i mean, there are many kits on gedmatch, but nobody has checked all of them yet and organized them into averages.

The old Eurogenes averages seem ok, (west) Ukrainians are 27/43 NA/Baltic, and Poles are 30/45, so they are slightly Germanic and Baltic shifted comapred to west Ukrainians.
