Which is why I doubt that Slavic expansion was violent in general. They were cow herders, and so they moved slowly and mostly in lowlands.

Only under Turkic/Tatar leadership they seemed to turn violent.

funnily in Maramures and Bucovina in Romania this difference is kept to this day: Romanian-speaking villages keep sheep, Ukrainian-speaking villages keep cattle. probably also because Romanians live the lower altitude areas while Ukrainians live the higher altitude areas which are also much more forested, and sheep require more grassland than cows. most of the milk collected for Dorna, Zuzu and Raraul is from Ukrainian-speaking villages north of Vatra Dornei and Cimpulung Moldovenesc up to the border.

My personal theory is that Slavs were looking for farmland. Romania was settled by Vlach highlanders who came down from the carpathians in 1500's and later. Slavs bypassed the mountains because they didn't need them.

This is pretty much true. Slavs avoided crossing Transylvania during migration, they came around it.

I have cut out some parts to show the barbarity of what such invasions did to the native Balkan people and describes how the Slavs invaded it
How was it ruled by the natives and the Romans at the same time?

Yugo autohtonists like Croatian historian/theologist Goran Šarić and some others claim that I2a-Din is Illyrian, and arrived in Dacia when Romans brought some Illyrians from western Balkan to the Dacia to be workforce in mines.
