Why do Europeans hate Americans so much?

I don't understand the hate they have for the United States. The same way a lot of people hate Israel. But, the USA is really the last bastillion of freedom and common sense. The rest of the world has gone to pot. They think Americans are stupid, but there's a lot of stupid Europeans as well, and they live in a bubble the same way they accuse Americans of doing. So why not just admit that we're better and the greatest country on earth? It's okay, Germany can come in a close 2nd.
