According to the last racial census in Peru, the most European departamentos (where most people self-identify as white and mestizo) are in the north of Peru: La Libertad (Trujillo), Lambayeque (Chiclayo), etc.

Hm, ok. Well that last study seems to be of native Andeans, so yeah I can believe those results, but 83% native for Lima? That seems way too high. It could maybe be accurate for lower class areas of Lima, but not the average for the entire city imho.

i used to think peru was more euro than that. Just like you. But latest genetic studies are very amerindian.

Anyway i know latin america has regional and class variations so i wouldnt be surprised if another area/test has different results.

Large components of Mexican culture celebrate their Aztec past, popular Mexican culture includes the Mesoamerican themes, lots Chicanos have Aztec themed tattoos, Mexicans are more likely say things like 'Brown Pride', 'Viva laza Raza' etc. Peuvians seem more submissive and hushhush (Embarassed?) about the large presence of Native culture in their nation. Less people visit Incan site vs Mexican sites.

Literally all Peruvian restaurants are Inca themed and the entire city of Cuzco has a bunch of Inca ruins, many Peruvians are proud of Machu Pichu and wish to visit. I don’t think your around many Peruvians to something like that as bold as that lmfao..

once i asked one of the people in charge of national genographic about the latino samples and they told me they used 20-30 samples from 1 region for some countries like argentina so national genographic references are not to be taken seriously
